We were shaking at the knees. This is the final. The county final.  We have to win. The whole school is depending on us. If we don't do well  we have a spelling test tomorrow. Noooooooooooooo! The first question.  "What does I.R.F.U. stand for? We all look at Joe. He's our sport  correspondent. Irish Rugby Football Union came the answer. After the  first round Dylan looks over at the board. 9 points! Aww the leaders are  on 10 points. We're losing by a point! Round 2. History and Geography.  We get 7 points. On to round 3. Hand the sheet to Joe! We get 9 points!  Next is the picture round. We get 8 points. Then it's the break. We get  crisps and a drink. We look at our score. 32! The highest score was 33.  We were tying in 2nd place. Round 5. TV and Entertainment. Yeah that's  my strong point. We got 9 points. We were tying in 2nd place still.  Round 6. General Knowledge. We got 7 questions right. Then they start  doing speeches.  Annoying! They announced the results. St. Nauls-3rd  /Crannóg Buí and a Ballybofey school. We were in a tiebreaker for first.  First question. What did Percy Shaw invent to help drivers at night? We  put cat's eyes. So did the other team. It was the right answer! There  had to be another tiebreaker. 2nd question. What is the name of Margaret  Thatcher's late husband? Yesssssssssss! We knew it. We put Denis. The  other team put John. The answer was…………..DENIS! We won. We got a big  shield for the school and for ourselves we got a plaque and a schoolbag.  We'll be celebrating into next week.

The Quiz

Before we qualified for the  county final we had to win the Glenties Garda quiz. We only got 4  questions wrong from 60 questions and we won the quiz by about 5 points.  We were delighted by that and we didn't expect to win anything else. On  Thursday the 11th of April it was the day of the quiz county final. The  quiz was on at 19.30 in the Lorreto Convent in Letterkenny. We were  always about 3rd and going up to the last round we were joint second and  one point of the lead. The last round was very hard and we got seven  points. We thought we had lost. But it went to a tiebreaker for first  and second place. Both teams got the first question right. We got the  second question right but the other team got it wrong so we won the  county finals. I really enjoyed the quiz and it was great to win it. By  Joe
THE QUIZ COUNTY FINALS!!

On Thursday 11th of April we went to the county finals in the Loreto  convent in Letterkenny. We were roughly around 3rd- 4th the whole way  through. Some of the questions were really hard, but some were quite  easy. After the last round we were sure we weren't in the top three. The  quiz master announced the third prize winner, who I think was St.  Nauls. Then he announced that there was a tie breaker. Then we thought  for definite that we were 4th or worse. He said "The tiebreaker was  between Scoil Crannóg Buí and (another school.)" We were delighted. We  nearly went through the roof with excitement!!!!! The first tiebreaker  question was 'Percy Shaw invented which road item which greatly helps  drivers at night?' The answer was cat's eyes. Another tie breaker. The  next question was 'what is the name of Margaret Thatcher's husband'. The  answer was Denis Thatcher. The other team didn't get it! We won!!!!!!  We were over the moon. Next thing we knew cameras were going off all  around us and we were being handed a big, shiny plaque.  We were jumping  up and down from excitement. But we were worn out and it was time to go  home. When we went to bed but we didn't get much sleep as we were too  giddy. By Amy Boyd.
