Green Schools
On 25th of November  the senior room and 2nd class went on a walk with Áine and Ms. Gallagher  up the Point road. We looked at all the hazards on the road. One of the  things we noticed was that the school ahead sign is not working as the  lights do not flash and it is nearly covered with bushes.
The next  hazard we saw was there is a lot of briars sticking out on the side of  the road and children can not stand in properly and could get hit with  on-coming traffic.
Another hazard is the bend very near the school  and it is hard to see around it. So a car going up or down the road  might hit a pedestrian if they were going too b fast as the visibility  is not good on that bit of road.
We hope you listen to all these hazards and be careful collecting and bringing your child or children to school and from school.

Our Walking Report
From 2nd class up  went on a walk.  A girl called Áine came with us.  We looked at road  safety out on the Point road.  We had to write the things that were bad  and good about road safety.  We had lots of fun doing it.  Lara had to  wear a thing that counted your foot steps. I walked 2654 steps.  We were  looking for hazards .The first hazard we saw was that the school ahead  sign lights weren't flashing.  The next hazard was there were a few  bends where you couldn't see the on coming traffic. It was very  dangerous.  Then we went back to school and Áine showed us a video about  the earth.  It was very funny.  But it showed us about how the sea  levels are rising up.  And how the earth is cold and how it is warm.   The way it is getting warmer is something called greenhouse gases. One  of them is called Carbon Dioxide.  We looked at how to get to school  without putting too much Carbon Dioxide in the air.  There are loads of  ways to go a short distance and long distances .You could: park' n  stride, cycle, walk and carpool.

Please listen to all of the warnings on road safety!
