Green School Update
Suzanne Tinney came to our school on the Feburary 3rd 2011 to do a follow up assesment on our green school activities. We all met in the senior room. Theresa May told her all about the jobs. For Halloween Marie Mc Girr dressed up as a recyling bin, Shane and Ronan made a house with solar panels on the roof. All the children used recycled materials for their costumes instead of shop bought ones. For some jobs we collect crusts every day and put them out on the bird table, We have a Composting bin for our crust, fruit skins/leftovers, when these mature, they are used in the garden to fertilize the flowers and plants. We also wash and squash our recyclable rubbish. Caoimhe told her that she turns off the lights at breaktime. We shred paper every week and give it to someone who needs it. We wash out jam jars and use them on the nature table. We have a few bins and they are smaller than the ones we had. We placed them all around the school. We reuse our paper for art. It looks very colourful.
